The Morioka Fireworks Festival is sponsored by the Morioka Fireworks Festival Executive Committee. It has long been a summer tradition. This is the largest fireworks festival in Morioka, Iwate Prefecture.
Overview of Morioka Fireworks Festival 2017
Morioka Fireworks Festival 2017 is scheduled to be held on August 11, 2017. It consists of 4 parts. The highlight is the opening star mine*1. In total, approximately 10,000 fireworks will be set off. There are many things to see, including the size 10 fireworks *2 created by fireworks makers from all over the country. In addition to fireworks, there are also many other attractive events such as the Otobe Sansa Dance, the Kanchu Soran Corps, and the Shimonagai Lion Dance.
*1 Starmine is a type of fireworks. It has become a rapid-fire fireworks. In particular, it is produced as a set of multiple balls from size 2 (approximately 6cm) to size 4 (approximately 14cm). Use a rapid fire line to fire many shots in a short period of time. Nowadays, computers are often used for control. In this case, it is sometimes called a digital star mine.
*2 Size 10 ball is approximately 29.5cm in diameter and approximately 8.5kg in weight. It is also called shakudama (1 shakudama). It will rise to the same height as Tokyo Tower (approximately 330m). It explodes to a diameter of approximately 320m.

This is also an observation deck. The downside is that it's a little far from the venue. However, it is close to the station, so access is good. It is also equipped with air conditioning, so you can watch the fireworks in comfort. Also ideal for families with small children.
