Ramen curtain

Two famous Kitakata ramen restaurants recommended by Kitakata City natives!

"Kitakata Ramen" is one of the three major ramen in Japan.
Not only locals but also many people from all over Japan are impressed by the thick curly noodles and refreshing soy sauce soup.

Ramen curtainHowever, there are approximately 120 ramen shops in Kitakata, and some people may not know which shop's ramen is delicious.
This time, I would like to introduce a famous Kitakata ramen restaurant recommended by the author, who is from Kitakata.
When sightseeing in Fukushima Prefecture, you can't miss Kitakata Ramen!

Sakauchi Shokudo

The first restaurant we would like to introduce to you is Sakauchi Shokudo, which has many fans not only in Fukushima Prefecture but also all over Japan.
The most distinctive feature of Sakauchi Shokudo is its standard menu item, ``Niku Soba''.

The ``Niku Soba'' has an overwhelming presence, with pork soba spread out so much that it almost overflows from the bowl.
Honestly, even if you're not sure if you'll be able to eat it all, the salty soup is very light, making it a relatively easy dish to eat.
The noodles are thick and curly, so the soup coats the noodles and makes it even more delicious.

If you are trying it for the first time, you will be surprised and wonder, ``Is Kitakata Ramen really that good?''
Why not try the Niku Soba from Sakauchi Shokudo, which is popular not only in Kitakata but also in Japan and the world?

Genraiken

The next restaurant we will introduce is Genraiken, the originator of Kitakata ramen.
This shop was opened by my grandfather Kinsei, who came to Japan from China during the Taisho era, and is the birthplace of Kitakata ramen.

What makes this restaurant special is its simple "handmade ramen" that has been made using the same methods used in the past.
Genraiken's soup is a soy sauce soup made from pork bones, chicken bones, Japanese pickles, kelp, and vegetables, and the noodles are homemade flat noodles.
The method of making the soup has not changed at all since the Taisho era, making it a bowl that gives you a sense of the history of Kitakata ramen.

Although it is a little less well-known than the aforementioned Sakauchi Shokudo, I personally recommend it as a long-established restaurant that continues to be loved by locals.
This ramen is perfect for those who want to experience the history of Kitakata ramen.
