[What day is it today? | Tohoku Edition] What day is June 18th?

Scallop Day (Aomori Prefecture)

scallop

June 18th is "Scallop Day," established by the Aomori Prefectural Federation of Fisheries Cooperative Associations and the Mutsu Bay Fisheries Promotion Association .

If you break down the "ho" in scallop, it becomes "juhachi" (18), and the month was established as a reference to the fact that June is scallop season (the time when the adductor muscles develop after spawning) and the "mutsu" (sixth) of Mutsu Bay

Originally, only June 18th was "Scallop Day," but now it has expanded to include the 18th of every month
