"Higashiya Main Store" is a long-established store that originated in Wankosoba! Summer-only salad soba is also popular! [Morioka City, Iwate Prefecture]

Higashiya, a long-established soba restaurant famous as the birthplace of Morioka's Wankosoba, is about a 3-minute walk from Sakanamachi Shopping Street.

In the past, it was a custom in Iwate that soba noodles were served at banquets. This is the root of the Wankosoba from Morioka. Wankosoba was added to the soba restaurant menu for the first time in the 1950s.

Higashiya main store has a history of over 100 years.

Three stores in Morioka, including the Higashiya, teamed up to develop the menu with the aim of revitalizing the town.

In particular, the Higashiya is a representative of a long-established establishment that started Wankosoba. Its history is quite long, and was founded in 1907 (Meiji 40) as a branch of the famous restaurant "Oshimizu Taga" in Morioka.

The year after its founding, it was named "Higashiya" after the name Doi Higashikichi, the first owner.

The Higashi family is now firmly established as a long-established establishment. However, it has not been smooth sailing so far. In the early Showa era, a fire caused a complete burn-down of the store. We managed to get through this crisis with generous support from the Taga Group.

A famous restaurant that continues to offer exceptional taste

Our current main store is made entirely of cypress. This was still rebuilt after a fire burned down.

The soba and dashi are made by craftsmen who are well-versed in this field, and have a truly unique taste.

However, Wankosoba is not the only one loved by the citizens of Morioka. The cutlet bowl is also a menu with many fans. The cutlet bowl comes with small soba noodles. Another attractive feature is that the set is reasonably priced at 945 yen.

In the summer, the limited-time menu "Salad Soba (882 yen)" is particularly popular until August.

This menu has been a summer staple for over 30 years for Morioka residents, and the soba noodles, filled with cold water, are delicious.

Myo is rich in vegetables such as chicken, cucumbers, and radish, so it is also effective in preventing summer fatigue.
