the 170th roadside station in the Tohoku regionMichi-no-Eki Fukushima, opened on April 27, 2022, at the entrance to the expressway connecting Fukushima and Yamagata prefectures.

As befits a fruit-producing country, there are peach and pear farms nearby, and some even offer fruit-picking experiences

There are several roadside stations in Fukushima Prefecture, including"Michi-no-Eki Urabandai," "Tsuchiyu Road Park," "Bandai," "Kunimi Atsukashi no Sato," "Date no Sato Ryōzen," "Aizu Yukawa/Aizubange," "Kita no Sato," "Inawashiro,"and "Kawamata," but this article"Michi-no-Eki Fukushima."will focus on

We will be introducing the interior of the store using photos, so please read to the end

It's no wonder that roadside stations have become so popular!

It's been four months since the Fukushima roadside station opened, and even on a weekday, the parking lot was almost full! It was incredibly lively. Of course, everyonediligently following COVID-19 precautionswas

In front of the store, there was a plant sales corner where many different kinds of seedlingswere on display and for sale.

Near the entrance, there were large houseplants and popular succulent plants. Also, right inside the entrance, they were selling killifish and insects, which the children were looking at with sparkling eyes.

Full of in-store information!

Just knowing it's new is exciting, but what's inside?

The high ceilings and abundant use of wood create a pleasant atmosphere with good air circulation and a nice woody scent. The spacious layout, without many partitions, also helps to avoid overcrowding.

The highlight of the roadside station! The promised corner featuring local agricultural products.

Each producer has their own booth, and you're sure to be dazzled by the unique, fresh, and reasonably priced vegetables on display

help but exclaim "Wow!" at theextensive bread selection. It's rare to find a roadside station with such a wide variety of bread. Freshly baked bread is available in separate booths for each store.

There are many attractive products on the refrigerated shelves, such as fruit sandwiches and bread

The bread section at "Michi-no-Eki Fukushima" (Fukushima Roadside Station) is a highlight, and apparently many items sell out early in the day. If you're planning to go for the bread, we recommend going early.

is sure to attract men, and women alikeThe local sake corner, a renowned sake-producing region, are lined up, and even sakes that might be difficult to purchase in their standard 1.8L bottles are available in smaller, one-cup sizes, perfect for a roadside station.

It's also a good idea to buy a few different types as souvenirs for yourself! Of course, I did too

This time, I bought two sakes I'd been curious about for a while,"Dainana" and "Okunomatsu," both from breweries in Nihonmatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture, and enjoyed the luxury of opening them at the same time and comparing them side-by-side. This kind of enjoyment is probably only possible with single-serving cups.

along the Aizu Nishikaido road, which became famous for the unexpected contrast between its name and its offerings,Gyunyuya Shokudoalso has a souvenir corner where you can enjoy their ramen at home. The actual shop is small and cozy, and it's a popular spot with long lines on weekends. It's quite far from the center of Aizu town, so it's great that those who can't visit can enjoy it at home!

I found some jam that is made not far from the roadside station. Because it is handmade, production is limited, so if you come across it, it's a great chance to buy it

Is there anything else you can enjoy?

There is also a dog run on site, so dogs can have a place to relax, and it is also used by people who are out and about in their camper vans

What are the highlights around Fukushima Roadside Station?

Leaving Fukushima Roadside Station behind, we drove straight to the vast peach fields. The ripe peaches were so beautiful that we were mesmerized

Nearby is Four Leaf Clover, a popular shop on Instagram, and there was a queue outside the store

There are also sweets directly from fruit farmers, so be careful not to eat too much!
