[Miyagi] Cyborg 009 as Kamen Rider! "Ishinomori Mangakan" where you can experience the world of manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori
table of contents
Ishinomori Manga Museum is a museum in Ishinomaki City that exhibits the works of Shotaro Ishinomori, a manga artist from Miyagi Prefecture
Ishinomori Manga Museum is the only place in Japan where you can experience the world of this man who created many masterpieces such as Kamen Rider and Cyborg 009 and was dubbed the "King of Manga."
This time, I would like to explore the charm of Ishinomori Manga Museum

Introduction to Ishinomori Manga Museum
Ishinomori Manga Museum is divided into three sections: the first, second and third floors
The first floor is home to the merchandise shop "A Drop of Ink" and the video hall. After shaking hands with a life-size replica of Ishinomori's hand at the main entrance, you'll find a costumed Cyborg 003 waiting at the reception desk
You'll already feel like you've entered Ishinomori's world! There's a goods shop next to the reception, but we'll have to wait a bit for now. Let's save that for later, after we've fully enjoyed the entire building!
The only paid zone on the first floor, the video hall, screens anime films such as "Ryujin Numa" and "The Disappearance of Little Red Riding Hood," as well as an original movie about Ishinomaki's hero, "Sea Jetter Kaito." Don't miss the theme song sung by anime song singer Endo Masaaki, who is also a tourism ambassador from Ishinomaki!

The second floor is the main permanent exhibition zone
In the permanent exhibition room, the worlds of famous works such as Cyborg 009 and Kamen Rider are recreated. Personally, I was glad to see a corner dedicated to Sabu and Ichi's detective work. The greatest feature of Ishinomori Manga Museum is that it can be enjoyed by adults as well as children!
There is also a special exhibition room near the entrance to the permanent exhibition. It hosts limited-time exhibitions of original drawings by manga artists and animators other than those by Shotaro Ishinomori, so be sure to check it out when you visit!
On the third floor, you can learn how to make manga and anime for free. In the animation production experience corner, you can experience being an animator and animate your own drawings. It takes time because you have to draw each frame individually, but the moment when the animation comes to life is even more moving, as you put your heart and soul into it! Record a video on your smartphone and show it off to your family and friends!
Furthermore, the library also offers a weekly manga creation experience where you can make your own original manga badge or keychain for just 100 yen, so why not give it a try as a memento of your visit?
If you get hungry, head to the BLUE ZONE observation cafe on the same floor for a meal. While enjoying the view of Mt. Hiyori and the flowing Kitakami River, you can savor dishes such as Gorenger-inspired pasta!
The Great East Japan Earthquake and Manga Museum

Ishinomori Manga Museum is home to two of Japan's three biggest heroes, Kamen Rider and Sentai heroes. But it was during the Great East Japan Earthquake that the Manga Museum became a real hero
March 11, 2011
After the Great East Japan Earthquake, the museum immediately evacuated many visitors, then closed temporarily and evacuated staff, so miraculously there were no casualties from the tsunami. They continued to protect the safety of the evacuated citizens for about five days afterwards, just like true heroes. The children must have found great encouragement during the five days they spent with the riders
One year and eight months after the disaster, the Manga Museum was rebuilt with encouragement from all over the country, and it still watches over the city of Ishinomaki as a symbol of recovery!
