Hideyo Noguchi's Birthday (Fukushima Prefecture)

Noguchi Hideyo, a physician and bacteriologist , is known for his research into yellow fever and syphilis as a researcher at the Rockefeller Institute for Medical Research in the United States. He was born November 9, 1876 (Meiji 9) in Mitsuwa Village, Yama District, Fukushima Prefecture (now Inawashiro Town, Yama District) as the eldest son of Noguchi Sayosuke and his mother Shika.

He contracted yellow fever while researching it and died on May 21, 1928 (Showa 3) at the age of 51 in Accra, British Gold Coast (now the Republic of Ghana)
