To get to the Zao Dairy Center, get off at Shiroishi-Zao Station on the JR Tohoku Shinkansen, then take the Miyako Bus bound for Miyagi Zao Royal Hotel and get off at Togatta Onsen. There are plenty of spots to enjoy all day long

There are many fun spots at the Zao Dairy Center. For example, there is Heartland, where you can interact with animals, the Handmade Experience Center where you can make the aforementioned cheese and ice cream, a restaurant where you can eat fresh dishes made with freshly harvested dairy products, and a bakery. There are also other attractions such as a cheese factory and a rose garden, making it a spot where you won't get bored even if you spend the whole day there

At Heartland, you can interact with animals such as sheep, goats, and rabbits. Many people take memorable photos with the cute animals here. There is also a shop where you can purchase various dairy products made at the Cheese Factory. All the products are very fresh, and many people buy lots of souvenirs to take home

Next to the cheese factory is the Zao Farm Handmade Bread and Cakes. Bread and cakes are baked here every day. Among the most popular items are cheese tarts and cheese sticks, which are made with fresh cheese made at the factory. Cheese soft serve ice cream is also popular. You often see people walking around the center with it

The rose garden is home to around 400 varieties of roses, including English roses and old roses. There is no admission fee. There are benches in the garden, and many people sit here and enjoy the roses while eating the soft serve ice cream mentioned earlier

At the Handmade Experience Center, you can experience making cottage cheese (500 yen), mascarpone cheese (1,500 yen), butter (500 yen), sausage (1,300 yen), and ice cream (800 yen). The numbers in parentheses indicate the cost of the experience. Reservations must be made at least one week in advance. You can eat the cheese and sausage you make on the spot. Cheese you make yourself definitely tastes special
