table of contents
Momorin, the gentle rabbit , is the Fukushima City tourism mascot. In 2014, her rival, Black Momorin , was also introduced, and together they are active in tourism pamphlets and events in Fukushima City.
And don't miss the wide variety of "Momorin" goods. They are character goods, but they are also very tasteful. We've picked out some items that you'll want to keep close by
Why "Momorin"? Why a rabbit?
Even if you're not a Fukushima resident, anyone who loves Fukushima will already know this, but "momo" means peach, a specialty fruit that Fukushima is proud of. And "rin" also means apple, so it's not a nickname ending like Miporin
So why a rabbit? There's a good reason for that too
Her motif is a rabbit-like snow creature that appears on the slopes of Azuma Kofuji as the snow melts, commonly known as a "snow rabbit" (also known as a "seed-sowing rabbit")
When the locals of Fukushima see these "snow rabbits" on the mountainside, they know that spring has arrived! Momorin is a special rabbit that embodies this excitement
By the way, Momorin's profile published by the Fukushima City Tourism and Convention Association is as follows:
Momorin's profile
- sex:?
- Birthday: April 1996
- Hobbies: Looking for good things about Fukushima
- Likes: Fukushima fruits and hot springs
Now let's introduce some special goods featuring Momorin, a character filled with love for Fukushima!
Postcard

Postcards are a standard item among mascot goods. Momorin has a wide variety of postcards. They come in watercolors, photographs, and glossy finishes, and they cost just a few tens of yen each, so it's fun to choose from a variety of options! There are even 3D cards available, although they're a little pricey
Lunch bag 620 yen Available in various colors

It's made of canvas and is well sewn, so it's useful for more than just carrying your lunch box
The design is simple, so it looks natural even when carried by an adult, and it's a durable and easy-to-use bag
Clear files from 60 yen, many varieties available

Clear files are another popular character goods, but there are many different types of Momorin clear files available, all reasonably priced starting from just 60 yen each!
The "Momorin★Black Momorin" clear file shown in the photo is 110 yen. In fact, the Black Momorin design alone is also very popular
Memo pad 110 yen 6 colors available

"This has been a firm favorite," said the lady at the tourist information center. It's a compact, easy-to-use memo pad measuring just 9.5cm wide x 8.5cm long
Each of the six colors features an illustration of Momorin in a different pose, but the most popular is the one on the left of the photo where she is soaking in a hot spring. The back cover features the back view of the cover illustration, which is also cute. It's fun to collect all the types, and they also make great little souvenirs
Fukushima Diary Momorin Version 1,080 yen

It's already a new year, so you might be wondering why I need a diary now, but I would like to recommend this one!
The Fukushima planner comes with a variety of covers so you can choose the one you like, but the design of the "Momorin" planner is particularly lovely
If you buy one book, you can enjoy two different covers by switching the front and back

There's also a little explanation of the Fukushima Techo itself. It's a diary published every year, and the calendar section is chock-full of incredibly rare Fukushima facts every day, like "Yabuki Town's hometown tax return gift is a life-size Tiger Mask display mask," and "Miharu Town's municipal bus has a bus stop called 'Saito Saito.'" If you read it every day, you'll definitely become an expert on Fukushima

It also has a lot of pages with gravure interviews, so it's fun to read as a guidebook, and it comes with a large B3 map

The back of the card features a brilliant idea that introduces sweets from all 57 cities and towns in Fukushima
With so much content, it's worth having one in addition to your planner
It's also fun to collect the Momorin covers from each year
In addition to these, there are many other Momorin goods such as stuffed toys, ballpoint pens, towels, eco bags, straps, etc. New products are constantly being released, so be sure to check them out
How can I get Momorin merchandise?
You can always purchase "Momorin" merchandise at the Fukushima City Tourist Information Center at the west exit of JR Fukushima Station (please note that this is not the information center at the east exit!). You can also get the latest information about "Momorin" at the same time
While many character goods are expensive, all of the "Momorin" goods are reasonably priced. This makes you want to support her even more. Go Momorin!

Momorin is fun even outside of the merchandise
Momorin can be found in various locations in Fukushima City, including as the main character of Komukomu, a facility for children, Momorin Cafe, a limited-time cafe serving special sweets, and Momorin Bicycle Rental
In addition, if you register your marriage in Fukushima City, that day is designated as "Momorin Memorial Day" and you will be presented with a commemorative gift, and there is also a "Lively Momorin Exercise" for the elderly
And for those of you who are so enthralled with Momorin's charm that you think, "I want to become Momorin too!" (I'm sure there are others out there, right?), we have good news!
If you submit an application to the Fukushima City Tourism and Convention Association Secretariat (TEL: 024-531-6432, MAIL: kankou@f-kankou.jp) and it is accepted, you will be able to rent a Momorin costume to use at events. Why not dress up as Momorin and perform at an event this year?
So, in addition to the merchandise, be sure to visit Fukushima and experience all the different Momorin things!
