The pride of the six Tohoku prefectures: "The majesty of the Sendai domain, a large domain in the Michinoku region with 620,000 koku of rice, is here!".

The Sendai domain was ruled by the Date clan from its establishment until its abolition during the Meiji Restoration. While its official kokudaka (rice yield) was 620,000 koku, its actual kokudaka (rice yield), including its branch domain, Ichinoseki Domain, exceeded 1 million koku. The domain was a direct vassal of the Date clan.

Three Sengoku warlords from Miyagi Prefecture! Date Masamune, Katakura Kagetsuna, and Date Masazane

During the Sengoku period, Miyagi Prefecture was a place of warring factions, with local lords who had been granted territories by the shogunate during the Kamakura period competing with one another. The Date clan, which grew in power during this time, was led by the 14th head of the Date clan, Tanemune, and the 15th head of the Date clan, Harumune.
