Good Apple Day (Aomori Prefecture)

Established in 2001 by Aomori Prefecture, this day is based on a wordplay of "ii (11) ringo (5)" (good apple). It is a commemorative day created as part of an initiative to encourage more people to eat Aomori apples and to make them known both domestically and internationally

In March 2001, Aomori Prefecture formulated the "21st Century Aomori Apple Action Plan." They designated that year as the "Year One of Apples" and promoted initiatives to develop the apple industry

On September 22-23 of the same year,the "2001 Apple Year Gathering"was held in Hirosaki City. At this gathering, it was announced that Apple Day would be set for November 5th and renamed "Good Apple Day."
