Oshirasama a belief in household deities that remains particularly strong in Aomori and Iwate prefectures in the Tohoku region , and the deity is a doll made by carving the faces of a man, woman, or horse onto the end of a mulberry stick and dressing it in multiple layers of cloth.

Oshirasama's festival, also known as "Meinichi" (anniversary of death) the 16th of January, March, and September of the lunar calendar . On the anniversary of his death, Oshirasama is taken out of the household altar and offered sacred food (foods offered at the household altar), and he is dressed in a new layer of clothing called Osen-daku
