Golden Wind Day (Iwate Prefecture)

May 29th is designated as "Kin-iro no Kaze Day " (Golden Wind Day) by the Iwate Rice Branding Production and Sales Strategy Promotion Council, based on a wordplay using the Japanese words for " Kon-iro no Kaze" (Golden Wind) , an original rice variety from Iwate Prefecture, with the numbers 5, 2, and 9 being the first to be celebrated.

"Kin-iro no Kaze," a rice variety from Iwate Prefecture, is considered the ultimate rice, developed by identifying and crossbreeding delicious genes from as many as 2,000 strains, and then repeatedly conducting taste tests
