I want to spend all day engrossed in reading.
I want to drift off to sleep while reading.
Ideally, I'd like to become one with the book and fit right into the bookshelf.

The last one might be a bit of an exaggeration, but for any book lover or avid reader, the dream of staying overnight in a bookstore and spending the whole day immersed in books is something they've probably had at least once.
This dream, which was absolutely impossible unless you got a job at a bookstore, can now be fulfilled at a guesthouse in Tokyo.

Its name is "BOOK AND BED TOKYO,"
which literally translates to "books and beds."
This time, I actually stayed at their Asakusa branch!

The entrance is a hidden door! It's like entering a secret base!

It's on the 5th floor of a building very close to Senso-ji Temple.
When you go up in the elevator, you'll immediately find the front desk.
First, you check in at the front desk, but to my surprise, there are only lockers around.
There are no bookshelves, not even a door.

"Is the front desk on the 5th floor and the accommodation on another floor?"

"Please hold your key card over there."
checked me in pointed to a sensor next to the locker and said,
That's right, this locker was actually a hidden door leading inside!

Wow! It's like a secret hideout!
BOOK AND BED TOKYO gets you excited right from the entrance.
I wonder what it's like inside!

Capsule hotel? No, this isn't a capsule, it's a bookshelf!

Opening the hidden door reveals a neat and tidy space resembling a bookstore.
This is it.
This is the space that book lovers all over the world have been waiting for!

One wall is lined with bookshelves, and the other with capsule hotel-style beds for overnight stays.
In the middle, there's a spacious sofa for relaxing and a long table that looks suitable for working on a laptop.
The calm atmosphere, reminiscent of a coffee shop, is also fantastic.

As I walked around, browsing the books on the shelves, I noticed that there were places here and there where there were no books. These
places were capsule hotel-style private rooms.
Amazingly, at BOOK AND BED TOKYO, you can stay overnight inside the bookshelves!

I never imagined it would even fulfill my exaggerated dream of having it fit on my bookshelf, as I mentioned at the beginning!

From picture books to foreign books! A space where you can find a variety of books

Now, for book lovers, the hotel's collection is a point of interest.
While the number of books isn't particularly large, the carefully selected collection is full of exciting titles!
You can find a variety of books that complement the hotel's atmosphere, including hardcovers, paperbacks, picture books, design books, and even foreign language books.

My top recommendation is the "So Interesting You Can't Sleep Series." You
'll get so engrossed in reading it that you'll eventually fall asleep, so give it a try!

BOOK AND BED TOKYO has a café and bar
where you can purchase stylish drinks to enhance your reading time.

As it's described as a stylish drink perfect for Instagram, I couldn't resist buying a bamboo charcoal lemonade.
The drink, with its clearly defined color separation between the top and bottom, is definitely Instagram-worthy!
The lemon's acidity and bitterness are blended at a high level, resulting in a high-quality taste.
Yet, it's not overpowering, which further enhanced my elegant reading time.

Is it okay if you don't stay overnight? Hotels that you can use during the day!

Actually, BOOK AND BED TOKYO can be used even by those who are not staying overnight.
During daytime hours from 13:00 to 17:00, you can travel to the world of books for just 500 yen per hour! What's more
, you can even use it for unlimited time for just 1500 yen!

Although you won't be able to use the private rooms or showers, if you want to fulfill your dream of being buried in a book or if you want to immerse yourself in reading in a stylish and peaceful environment, why not try using the facility during the day?
