Shiwa Town, located south of Morioka City in the center of Iwate, is now growing as a town experiencing sustainable development

We are developing the area in front of JR Shiwa-Chuo Station, imagining a new connection between urban and rural areas.
The goal is for the entire town to grow sustainably, encompassing aspects such as "living, working, learning, gathering, relaxing, and enjoying."

What is Ogal Shiwa?

Ogarl Shiwa is a comprehensive facility completed on 10.7 hectares of town-owned land in front of JR Shiwa Chuo Station.
The name is derived from "Gare," which means "station" in French, and "ogaru," a local dialect word from Shiwa.

Shiwa Marche is a direct-from-producer market where you can enjoy vegetables, fish, and meat

The store boasts a proud lineup of products, including vegetables directly from Shiwa and the surrounding area, fishmonger Taseyoya, which was founded in 1876, and meat from Villa Kobo, a direct-from-the-farm shop with its main store in Yahaba-cho

I especially recommend Tashiro Fish Shop.
Tashiro Fish Shop operates "Seijiro," a conveyor belt sushi chain mainly in Iwate Prefecture, and it's also a shop where you can buy sushi from a sushi restaurant.
Seijiro is a sushi restaurant that's popular in Iwate for its delicious sushi.
If you're in Iwate, it might be a good idea to try some of the local's popular sushi!

This cafe bar serves dishes made with plenty of ingredients from Iwate Prefecture.
It's popular as a cafe during the day, offering freshly roasted coffee, and as a bar in the evening, where you can enjoy wines from Iwate Prefecture.

For sandwiches, they serve Fukuda Bread, a soul food of Morioka, and for dinner, they offer specialties made with pork from Iwate Prefecture.
If you want to experience the deliciousness of Iwate, this is a restaurant you should definitely visit for both lunch and dinner.

Shiwa Town Library

You might be wondering, "Why visit a library when you're sightseeing?", but this is the library I highly recommend

I especially recommend the special exhibition.
Along with various books related to Shiwa Town and Iwate Prefecture, the exhibition showcases the efforts of the local community and will be thoroughly satisfying even for those from outside the prefecture who cannot borrow the books.

The library has an elaborate design, and it's fun just to walk around and look at the books

Ogal Shiwa is a facility that offers direct sales and a library, but I was incredibly surprised when I found out that they also offer overnight stays

Ogawa Inn is a business hotel specializing in accommodations.
However, it's not just a place to sleep.

It's approximately a 2-minute walk from Shiwa-Chuo Station.
