Matsushima, Japan's three most scenic views

If you come to Matsushima and want to enjoy the view, you can't miss the Four Great Views. This was selected by Mannen Funayama, a Confucian scholar from the Edo period, and you can enjoy different views from a total of four scenic spots.

First of all, the scenery that can be seen from Miyato Island's Otaka Forest is spectacular.
From the east end of the bay, you can look out to the west, so you can enjoy the view colored by the beautiful sunset.

Next is Reikan, which can be seen from Daigyoji Temple in Toyama, Matsushima Town.
Facing south, you can overlook the bay and Oku-Matsushima, and the harmony between the islands scattered in the sea and the sky is extremely beautiful.

The scenery that can be seen from Ogidani is called a ghostly view.
The view overlooking Shiogama Bay to the southeast attracts tourists as the leaves turn bright red in autumn.

Finally, the view from Mt. Tamon in Shichigahama Town is called Great View.
The majesty of the Pacific Ocean is majestic, and you can also enjoy watching the ships sailing back and forth within the bay.

All of the scenic spots are located on top of the mountains, so it's best to rent a car and travel by car.
Pleasure boats of various sizes also sail, allowing you to enjoy the rich natural scenery up close.
Especially if you use a small boat, you can go through sea caves on days when the waves are calm, giving you an even more impressive view.
