The hot spring has a long history, dating back to about 1,300 years ago when the monk Gyoki (also known as Gyogi) founded the hot springs in Aizu to spread Buddhism.

Namari Onsen is located in a mountain village surrounded by lush greenery along the Toyosawa River, about 27 km from Shin-Hanamaki Station on the Tohoku Shinkansen line and 14 km from Hanamaki Minami Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. The hot springs have been in operation for 600 years.
