[Miyagi] Night planetarium in a large exhibition room! “Sendai City Astronomical Observatory” where you can learn about the universe
table of contents
The Sendai City Observatory is located at the edge of a quiet residential area, 30 minutes by car from Sendai Station.
In 2008, it moved from Nishikoen to Nishikigaoka and reopened.
It has been powered up as a place where everyone can feel closer to space.
This time, we will introduce the charm of Sendai City Astronomical Observatory!
Experience the “mysteries of the universe” in a large exhibition room
The large exhibition room, reminiscent of the cosmos, is divided into four areas: ``Earth,'' ``Solar System,'' ``Macrocosm,'' and ``History of Astronomy,'' where you can learn about each theme.
In the Earth area, you will learn about the universe as seen from the earth, such as the ``phases of the moon'' and ``the mechanism by which auroras are formed.'' In the solar system area, you will learn about the secrets of the solar system, such as ``Introducing planets'' and ``How to observe the sun.'' In the macrocosm area, you will learn about ``stars.'' The history area of astronomy exhibits ``the history of astronomy'' and the nationally designated important cultural properties ``armillary,'' ``quadrant,'' and ``celestial globe.'' It has been.
There is also a hands-on corner where you can learn about the mysteries of the universe based on real-life experiences, so even small children can have fun without getting bored.
Walk under the stars at the planetarium! Let's feel the wonder of the universe!
The most attractive feature of the Sendai Astronomical Observatory is the planetarium.
The Sendai Astronomical Observatory's planetarium projects a variety of programs, but the one I recommend is ``Starry Sky Time ``Tonight's Starry Sky Walk''.
He will give live commentary on how to enjoy the starry sky, focusing on the constellations and celestial bodies that can be seen that night. The content picked up differs depending on the commentator, so no matter how many times you listen, you'll discover new things.
It might be fun to visit many times and create your own favorite person in charge!
Enjoy music and art at the planetarium!
The starry sky is not the only thing you can see at the planetarium.
Every Saturday night, you can watch a video production using a planetarium called Night Planetarium.
Also, depending on the season, ``Music Time'' is held.
You can enjoy a wonderful time listening to soothing music while looking at the starry sky.
Please check the Sendai City Astronomical Observatory's website for details on the night planetarium's projection content and when ``Music Time'' will be projected.
The most convenient way to access Sendai City Observatory is to take the bus bound for Nishikigaoka from Sendai Station and get off at Nishikigaoka 7-chome Kita/Observatory Iriguchi.
There are other access methods, so please check the Sendai City Observatory website.
