table of contents
Have you heard of Mount Bandai in Fukushima Prefecture?
Mount Bandai is located in the center of Fukushima Prefecture and is a representative mountain of Fukushima, having been selected as one of the 100 famous mountains in the prefecture.
In autumn, you can see the autumn leaves, and in winter, it is loved by many tourists as a ski resort.

Recently, the number of people climbing mountains has increased, and Mt. Bandai has hiking courses for beginners to advanced climbers. So, in this article, we would like to introduce hiking courses for beginners to advanced climbers
Beginner's course (Happodai trailhead)
First, let's introduce the beginner's course.
For beginners, we recommend the Happodai trailhead.
It takes 2 hours and 30 minutes to climb up and 1 hour and 40 minutes to descend, so you can enjoy a relatively short climb. Another
feature is that there is only a small difference in elevation between the summit and the summit.
There are also flower fields and observation decks in the mountains, making the climb enjoyable.
This is a recommended hiking course for those who want to enjoy a leisurely climb of Mount Bandai, as well as for small children and the elderly.
Intermediate course (Inawashiro trailhead)
For intermediate climbers, we recommend the Inawashiro Trail Entrance course.
It takes 3 hours and 30 minutes to ascend and 2 hours and 40 minutes to descend.
This course uses the Inawashiro Ski Resort on Mt. Bandai, but the slope at the beginning is quite steep, so it may be a bit challenging for beginners. In
that case, it is possible to take a detour trail, although it will take a little longer.
A unique feature of this trail is that it offers beautiful views of Lake Inawashiro.
You can enjoy it twice at once.
If you want to see the view of Lake Inawashiro as well as Mt. Bandai, this course is recommended.
Advanced hiking course (Okinajima trailhead)
For advanced climbers, we recommend the Okinajima Trail Entrance course.
The required time is 3 hours and 30 minutes for the ascent and 2 hours and 30 minutes for the descent, which is roughly the same as the intermediate course, but the slope is very steep.
Also, this course is not suitable for beginners as it is not a course where you can enjoy the scenery or take a leisurely walk.
Most people who are confident in their physical strength climb the mountain as part of club activities or training. We
recommend this course for those who want to get in shape or who are physically fit.
