table of contents
Are you familiar with Mount Bandai in Fukushima Prefecture?
Located in the center of Fukushima Prefecture, Mount Bandai is one of Fukushima's most representative mountains and is also selected as one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains.
In autumn, you can enjoy the beautiful autumn foliage, and in winter, it is a popular ski resort loved by many tourists.

Recently, the number of people climbing mountains has increased, and Mt. Bandai has hiking courses for beginners to advanced climbers. So, in this article, we would like to introduce hiking courses for beginners to advanced climbers
Beginner's course (Happodai trailhead)
First, let me introduce a course for beginners.
For beginners, I recommend the Happodai trailhead course.
The required time is 2 hours and 30 minutes for the ascent and 1 hour and 40 minutes for the descent, so you can enjoy a relatively short hike. Another
feature is that the elevation difference to the summit is small.
Furthermore, there are flower fields and observation decks along the mountain, making the hike enjoyable. This
hiking course is recommended for those who want to enjoy a leisurely climb of Mount Bandai, as well as for small children and the elderly.
Intermediate course (Inawashiro trailhead)
For intermediate hikers, the Inawashiro Trailhead course is recommended.
The estimated time is 3 hours and 30 minutes for the ascent and 2 hours and 40 minutes for the descent.
This course uses the Inawashiro Ski Resort on Mount Bandai for the climb, but the initial slope is steep and may be a bit challenging for beginners. In
that case, it is possible to take a detour hiking trail, although it will take a little longer.
A special feature of this trail is that you can enjoy beautiful views of Lake Inawashiro.
You can enjoy two things at once.
If you want to see not only Mount Bandai but also Lake Inawashiro, this course is recommended.
Advanced hiking course (Okinajima trailhead)
For advanced hikers, the Okinajima trailhead course is recommended.
The required time is about the same as the intermediate course, 3 hours and 30 minutes for the ascent and 2 hours and 30 minutes for the descent, but the slope is extremely steep.
Also, this course is not suitable for beginners as it is not a course to enjoy the scenery or to walk at a leisurely pace.
Rather, it is mostly climbed by people who are confident in their physical fitness and climb it as part of club activities or training.
If you want to train your body or have good physical fitness, this course is recommended.
