Sakuzo Yoshino, a political scientist and thinker from Miyagi Prefecture who was active mainly during the Taisho era, January 29, 1878, in Ogaki Village, Shida District, Miyagi Prefecture (present-day Furukawa Tokamachi, Osaki City), as the eldest son of Toshizo and Ko, who ran the Yoshinoya, a cotton yarn and cotton textile business.

He was a key figure in the Taisho Democracy , a period in Japan from the 1910s to the 1920s that encompassed the development of populism and a broader liberal movement and ideology
