[Miyagi Prefecture] Let's stay at a roadside station! Introducing roadside stations with accommodation facilities in Miyagi Prefecture!

Overnight trips at roadside stations are experiencing a quiet boom, and an increasing number of roadside stations have auto campgrounds, hotels, etc. where you can stay overnight.

Unfortunately, there are no roadside stations with lodging facilities in Miyagi Prefecture yet, but one station has opened that has RV park

RV parks are parking spaces for overnight stays certified by the Japan RV Association , and they are starting to be installed at roadside stations, lodging facilities, hot spring facilities, etc. all over the country, and the number is increasing every year.

In this article, we will introduce not only roadside stations in Miyagi Prefecture that have RV parks, but also popular roadside stations where overnight stays are partially permitted.

Roadside Station Mitakido (Tome City: National Route 398, Sanriku Expressway/National Route 45)

It is directly connected to the Mitakido IC in the free toll section of the Sanriku Expressway, and opened on April 1, 2017 as the 13th roadside station in Miyagi Prefecture.

Spacious RV station, dog run in the back

There is a dedicated parking space for 6 RVs, tables and chairs can be used within the space, and the restroom in the roadside station information center can be used 24 hours a day.

The clean restrooms are a little far from the RV station, but the path along the way is covered, so you don't need an umbrella in case of light rain, and the path is bright and safe even at night.

There is a weight placed under the power box that can secure tarps etc.

There are 100V (10A) power outlets in all spaces, and there is water in the nearby plaza, which is available 24 hours a day, but barbecues, bonfires, and cooking over open flames are not permitted.

Water hole near the RV station

The RV station is far from the parking area for large vehicles, so you won't be bothered by the idling noise of refrigerated trucks.

Procedures for using the RV station

After paying at the register at the product sales corner and receiving the designated garbage bag, enter the station through the special entrance and have the person in charge unlock the power.

The back side of the object at the entrance is the entrance to the RV station.

At this time, you will need to remove the pole at the park entrance, but the person in charge will give you instructions on how to do this, and you will then have to remove it yourself when entering and exiting your car.

Please note that reservations are given priority when using the station, so advance reservations are recommended.

There are no special check-out procedures required, but don't forget to return the entrance pole properly.

Product sales corner where you can purchase ingredients and lunch boxes

Not only is there a wide selection of fresh local vegetables and products, but the farm-fresh product sales corner is also popular for its wide variety of boxed lunches and side dishes.

The meat-wrapped rice ball sticks sold in the lunch box area are also hearty and recommended!

During meals, a wide variety of bento boxes are lined up in the large corner, as well as freshly baked bread and rice cakes such as zunda mochi.

It's open until 7pm, so even if you're sleeping in your car and the restaurant is closed, you can still get dinner.

Food court style restaurant where you can enjoy local cuisine

A wide variety of menu items are available, from the expensive but hearty Tome Beef Steak Set Meal to the one-coin Kake Soba.

The aburafu rice bowl is filled with aburafu that has been soaked in dashi and is very filling.

We recommend the local food of this region, abura-fu, which is fried in oil.The fragrant abura-fu is more satisfying than the cutlet. I'll give it to you.

Hatto, which is made by kneading flour with water, is served in a soy sauce pot with chicken ball dumplings and mushrooms, and has a simple yet comforting taste.

Glad it was open! FamilyMart Mitakido PA store

There is a 24-hour Family Mart right next to the RV station, which is convenient because you can buy food and drinks even in the middle of the night, and the lights are on even at night, so you don't have to worry.

In addition, you can bring the food and drinks purchased at this store to the food court, so if you combine it with food court menus or farm-fresh lunch boxes, you can enjoy a wide variety of meals.

A free dog run that is great for traveling with your dog

The on-site dog run near the RV station is free and open to everyone.

The area is large and divided into areas for medium/large dogs and small dogs, so you can safely let your small dog play freely.

There's a dedicated watering hole where you can give your dog a drink and wash their paws, so if your dog gets dirty from running around on the dirt, you can clean it up before putting it in the car.
