It's about a 20-minute walk from the east exit of JR Sendai Station, and about a 3-minute walk from Tsutsujigaoka Station on the JR Senseki Line.
Tsutsujigaoka Park is a cherry blossom viewing spot representative of Sendai City that can be enjoyed by everyone, from families to office workers.
This time, we'll be reporting on cherry blossom viewing at Tsutsujigaoka Park!
What are the highlights of the cherry blossoms at Tsutsumioka Park?

The best thing about cherry blossom viewing at Tsutsumioka Park is the length of time you can enjoy the flowers
Hitome Senbonzakura in Ogawara Town, a famous cherry blossom viewing spot in Miyagi Prefecture, is characterized by a row of cherry trees stretching as far as the eye can see.
The varieties include Somei Yoshino, Shiroyamazakura, Yaezakura, and Sendai Yoshino, and are in full bloom around mid-April.
After that, Sendai enters a period of strong winds, so you will only be able to enjoy the flowers for about a week.
On the other hand, although Tsutsujioka Park has some major cherry blossoms such as Somei Yoshino and Edo Higan, the majority of the cherry blossoms are weeping cherry varieties such as Yaebenishidare and Shidarezakura.
These Shiidarezakura varieties bloom about a week earlier than Somei Yoshino and Edo Higan, so you can enjoy cherry blossom viewing from early April when the weeping cherry varieties bloom until late April when the Somei Yoshino varieties fall.
Furthermore, there are many lanterns hanging in the park, which are lit brightly until 9pm, making it the perfect place to view the cherry blossoms at night.
Although they are not lit up with vibrant lights, seeing the cherry blossoms at night in natural light is just the right environment to rediscover their true charm.
There are also stalls set up, so it's a great way to spend time with friends over a drink!
A surprise report on the Cherry Blossom Festival! But there's no parking!
Well, this time I also set off in my car with the intention of writing a report on my experience at the cherry blossom festival!
I made rice balls and was fully prepared!
I left home at 9am!
However, when I arrived, I was shocked! There was no parking at all!
Well, there was a parking lot, but it was full everywhere!
There was nowhere to park!
That's because unfortunately that day was the day that the exciting match between Rakuten and Softbank was being held at Kobo Stadium Miyagi. The
already insufficient parking spaces were even more packed.
I had underestimated the parking situation in Sendai!
The parking lot I finally found was near Kudatake Station, three stations away on the JR Senseki Line

This is an unavoidable decision because parking fees in front of Sendai Station are too high
As it was too far to walk, we decided to travel by train
Weeping cherry trees and Somei Yoshino cherry trees are zoned!? Change your seating location depending on the season!
When we finally arrived at the park, the cherry blossom festival was in full swing.
As the famous Sendai sparrow dancers paraded through the park, we laid out sheets under the weeping cherry trees and began our cherry blossom viewing.
By mid-April, the weeping cherry trees had begun to fall, but there were still about 80% of the blossoms left, so we were able to enjoy it to the fullest.

The zone in Tsutsumioka Park where the stalls are set up is mainly dedicated to weeping cherry blossoms, so many people were enjoying admiring the cherry blossoms that were just beginning to fall, but if you want to fully enjoy the cherry blossoms at this time of year, it's best to get a seat near the outer course
This is because the cherry blossoms around Tsutsumioka Park are blooming like a tunnel

The north side in particular is less crowded and is no exaggeration to say it's a hidden gem.
It's a good idea to remember that the area around the stalls is best from early to mid-April, and the north outer course is best from mid to late April!
What I thought after going there! Tips for parking and finding a spot!
There are two main things that came to mind after attending the cherry blossom festival
- I don't think there is a parking lot
- Change your location depending on the season
Unless you leave very early in the morning, you won't be able to find a parking spot.
You'll have to park quietly in front of Sendai Station, or hope to find a parking spot near a station further down the Senseki Line.
Also, it seems that the area is zoned according to the type of cherry blossoms, so you can have the most fun by changing your campsite depending on the time of year you're participating!
