Who is Sanpei the Fisherman?

"Tsurikichi Sanpeithat ran in Kodansha's"Weekly Shonen Magazine"from 1973 to 1983, spanning 10 years. It is the representative work of the late Takao Yaguchi, who was born in the former Nishinaruse Village, Ogachi District, Akita Prefecture (now Yokote City, Akita Prefecture).

I'm sure everyone over 40, especially men, has seen or read this at least once

It remains a popular classic in the nature and fishing-themed manga genre to this day, with sequels and one-off works frequently released, and as of October 2020, the total number of copies of the book published reached 50 million

What is Yokote Masuda Manga Museum?

The Yokote City Masuda Manga Museum, located in Masuda-cho, Yokote City, Akita Prefecture,is the first museum in Japan to be established with "original manga drawings" as its theme. Itcurrentlyhouses over 450,000 original manga drawings, making it the largest collection in Japan.

In addition to works by artists from Akita, the museum also exhibits works by famous artists such as Osamu Tezuka, Shigeru Mizuki, Monkey Punch, and Momoko Sakura, as well as holding special exhibitions and events for popular manga such as Evangelion and Bleach, contributing to the dissemination of information about manga culture

For many years since the museum's opening, Takao Yaguchi himself served as honorary director, but he passed away in 2020 at the age of 81. Currently, Yoshihiro Takahashi (from Higashinaruse Village, Ogachi District, Akita Prefecture), famous for his representative work "Ginga: Nagareboshi Gin," has succeeded him as the second honorary director.
