Asteroid AomoriLowell, was discovered on September 30, 1999 , at the Observatory in Flagstaff Arizona, USA

It was named on May 9, 2012, in honor of Aomori Prefecture , which suffered significant damage in the wake of the Great East Japan Earthquake
