What is the Fujita Kyohei Glass Museum?

The Kyohei Fujita Glass Art Museum is operated by Ichinobo, a company that develops tourism and runs hot spring inns in Miyagi Prefecture.
In addition to exhibiting the works of glass artist Kyohei Fujita, the museum also features a tea room where visitors can admire a beautiful garden and an observation deck offering views of Matsushima Bay, one of Japan's three most scenic spots.

What is the appeal of Kyohei Fujita? What kind of glass works has he created?

Kyohei Fujita is one of Japan's leading glass artists.
He initially studied metal engraving at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts, but later switched to glass art.

Shortly after joining Iwata Glass Craft, he became independent.
He elevated decorative boxes for small Japanese items into glass art by mixing colored glass and gold leaf, techniques he learned in Italy, bringing traditional Japanese aesthetics to life in the field of glass art.

This work, "Decorative Box," is particularly highly regarded in Europe as a modern Rimpa work, due to its elegant decorative beauty, which is a part of the ancient Japanese Rinpa school

Afterward, Kyohei Fujita traveled to Italy, where he pioneered a new field on the island of Murano in Venice.
This led to the creation of "Fujita's Canna," a unique vase that perfected the traditional Venetian canna pattern.

The path leading to the "world of glass beauty" is a gateway to the extraordinary.
The "Ginkakuji-style fence path," lined with approximately 120 pine trees, each 4 meters high, feels like a path leading to another world.
