Aizu Higashiyama Onsen is a representative hot spring resort in the Aizu region, located on the outskirts of Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. The hot spring has a long history, dating back to about 1,300 years ago when the monk Gyoki (also known as Gyogi) founded the hot springs in Aizu to spread Buddhism.
Namari Onsen is located in a mountain village surrounded by lush greenery along the Toyosawa River, about 27 km from Shin-Hanamaki Station on the Tohoku Shinkansen line and 14 km from Hanamaki Minami Interchange on the Tohoku Expressway. The hot springs have been in operation for 600 years.
"Osaki Kodo" is probably unfamiliar to most people outside of the area. Located in northern Miyagi Prefecture, Osaki City is the center of the area, encompassing Shikama Town, Kami Town, and Wakuya Town.
There are many local JR lines in the north of the prefecture, and the commuter and student traffic on lines departing from Sendai Station is comparable to that in the Tokyo metropolitan area during rush hour.
