This commemorative day was established by the Galactic Federation, an organization of five cities and two towns that began exchanging information through a research facility run by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)

June 13th, 2010, to commemorate the achievement of the capsule containing the asteroid sample container separating from the asteroid probe Hayabusa, landing and returning to the Woomera Desert in Australia.

The Hayabusa itself burned up when it re-entered the atmosphere
