This commemorative day was established by the "Galaxy Federation," an organization comprised of five cities and two towns that began interacting with each other through research facilities of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA)

  • Noshiro City, Akita Prefecture(Republic of Noshiro)
  • Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture(Republic of Sanriku Ofunato)
  • Kakuda City, Miyagi Prefecture(Kakuda Republic)
  • Sagamihara City, Kanagawa Prefecture (Sagamihara Republic)
  • Saku City, Nagano Prefecture (Saku Republic)
  • Kimotsuki Town, Kagoshima Prefecture (Uchiniura Kimotsuki Republic)

*The Sanriku Balloon Observatory in Ofunato City, Iwate Prefecture, closed with the launch on September 13, 2007

June 13th was established to commemorate the achievement of the capsule containing asteroid samples, which separated from the asteroid explorer "Hayabusa" on June 13, 2010 , and landed in the Woomera Desert in Australia, returning to Earth

The Hayabusa itself burned up when it re-entered the atmosphere
