It has become a popular course as the fall foliage season approaches.

The illumination is currently being held until September 18th. This time we will introduce the charms of Mt. Adachi Tara.

``Mt. Adatara'' with a real sky

“Honto no Sora” refers to the blue sky above Mt. Adatara.

Adachitara Mountain appears under the name ``Attara Mountain'' in ``Chiekosho'', a book written by Kotaro Takamura, a sculptor and poet, about his memories with his wife, Chieko, who was from Nihonmatsu City.

Chieko says that there is no sky in Tokyo.

He says he wants to see the real sky.

The blue sky that appears every day

It is said to be Chieko's true sky.

Quote: Chiekosho

For Chieko, who was suffering from illness in Tokyo, the sky of Mt. Adachi Tara probably symbolized her beautiful hometown that soothed her mind and body. Chieko expressed this scene in the words "true sky."

Adachi Tara, one of Japan's 100 Famous Mountains

Adachi Tara, which has an altitude of 1,728m, is counted as one of Japan's 100 famous mountains and is loved by many mountaineers.
It is also nicknamed ``Nipple Mountain'' because the small rocky peak that protrudes from the top of the mountain is reminiscent of a woman's breasts.

Mt. Adatara, also known as the 100 Famous Mountains for Flowers, is a place where the flowers on the plateau bloom one after another from April to early October, and are a sight to behold for visitors.
You can enjoy fresh greenery in May and June, and alpine plants from June to August. The best time to see the autumn leaves is from late September to late October.

There is a mountain hut called "Kurogane Koya" on Mt. Adatara that is open all year round, so it is also popular for overnight mountain climbing.
Dinner at Kurogane Hut is the famous Kurogane Hut Curry made with a secret recipe. It is also a mountain hut with a hot spring bath fed directly from the source, and is popular among many climbers. (Currently, Kurogane Hut is closed due to reconstruction work due to aging. It is scheduled to be completed in 2025.)

In addition, if you use the ropeway, it will take about an hour and a half to reach the top of the mountain, making it easy for beginners and families to enjoy trekking. One of the charms of Mt. Adatara is that you can enjoy magnificent views from the top of the mountain that rival those of 2,000m or 3,000m mountains!

Adatara Ropeway

There is a ropeway at Adatara Kogen Ski Resort where the trailhead is located. During the 10-minute aerial walk on the ropeway, if the weather is good, you can see the cityscapes of Nihonmatsu City and Fukushima City, the Adatara Mountain Range, Azuma Kofuji, and the Zao Mountain Range below.

Yakushidake Observation Square Panorama Park, located about a 5-minute walk from Sancho Station, is a viewing spot that offers a panoramic view of the Adatara Mountain Range.
Enjoy the view of the ``real sky'' that Chieko loved. During the autumn leaves season, the red, orange, and yellow of the deciduous trees and the green of the five-yellow pines create a vivid contrast on the mountainside, creating a spectacular view. Even if you are not a mountain climber, you can see the spectacular view in just 5 minutes by riding the ropeway, so it is recommended for autumn foliage viewing this coming season.

In addition, the observation space at the end of the Mt. Adatara Ropeway (altitude 1,350m) is open to the public as a free rest area where you can take a break with your lunch, snacks, etc.
