Shin-Aomori Station was established on November 1, 1986 (Showa 61)

However, due to the deterioration of the Japanese National Railways' business at the time, it was decided to postpone the construction of the Tohoku Shinkansen line (Morioka City - Aomori City) for the time being. The Shin-Aomori Station that was established was a small, unmanned station with a single platform and one track that served only as an intermediate station on the Ou Main Line

24 years later, December 4, 2010, the Tohoku Shinkansen line was finally extended between Hachinohe Station and Shin-Aomori Station. To coincide with the opening of the Shinkansen, a new station building was constructed and the area in front of the station was redeveloped, reborn as the Shinkansen gateway to Aomori City.
