Nyuto Onsen, a hot spring resort in Akita with seven inns

Seven inns and seven hot springs

Nyuto Onsen is a secluded hot spring resort located in the Towada-Hachimantai National Park, midway up the slopes of Akita Prefecture. It takes about three hours from Tokyo to Tazawako Station on the Akita Shinkansen, and about 45 minutes by local bus from Tazawako Station

Nyuto Onsen has seven hot springs and inns, each with its own unique characteristics: Tsuru no Yu, Taenoyu, Kuroyu Onsen, Kaniba Onsen, Magoroku Onsen, Okama Onsen, and Kyukamura Nyuto Onsenkyo. You can bathe in these seven hot springs by using the Yu Meguricho, which is sold for 1,800 yen at inns that are members of the hot spring association

To tour these hot springs, you can either use your own car or a wagon called the Yu Meguri-go, operated by the inn association. Tsuru-
no-Yu Onsen is the most popular, consisting of multiple indoor and outdoor baths. While the water quality varies slightly, it is generally a milky-white sulfur spring.
The most famous bath is the charming mixed-gender outdoor bath surrounded by pampas grass leaves. Fresh spring water bubbles up from the bottom of the pond-sized bath, which can fit around 30 people. On clear days, you can clearly see the moon and stars at night, creating a truly magical experience.
Tsuru-no-Yu is famous not only for its hot springs, but also for its accommodations and cuisine. The Edo-period hot spring inn has been preserved in its original form, making it a valuable resource for learning about the history of that time.

For this reason, Honjin rooms are well known not only among Japanese people but also among foreigners, and are particularly popular, so it is extremely difficult to make a reservation, and you may have to wait for more than six months to stay
