[Tokyo] The National Diet Building, the center of Japanese politics

Located in Nagatacho, Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo, the National Diet Building is the center of Japanese politics and where the Diet regularly meets. The
symmetrical building houses the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors on either side, making it not only a legislative institution but also a familiar spot featured in TV dramas and movies.
While the building has a solemn atmosphere, anyone can generally tour the facilities free of charge on weekdays.

Tours of the National Diet Building are available, allowing you to explore the building's interior.
Except for plenary sessions and special events, tours are available Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. While tours are available for individuals, groups of 10 or more require advance reservations. Reservations,
especially for large events like school events, require several months in advance.
For small groups, simply visit the visitor reception desk and fill out the necessary information on the application form. The approximately one-hour tour begins with a guide leading you through the hall. When touring the House of Councillors, you'll see not only the
plenary session hall often seen on the news, but also the visitor lobby, where valuable historical documents are displayed, and even the Imperial Rest House and Imperial Family Rooms, where the Emperor uses the resting place.

You can reminisce about the setting that gave birth to so many dramas, or marvel at the luxurious interior.
You can also walk on the red carpet that is synonymous with the Diet, giving you a glimpse into the lives of Diet members.
The Diet Building also has a souvenir corner where you can purchase sweets and other items that can only be found here.
As some of the lineup changes with each new prime minister, many people become repeat visitors.

The National Diet Building is just a one-minute walk from Nagatacho Station on the Tokyo Metro.
